Traffic changes on the north block of Second Avenue will begin on Monday, May 15, due to construction relating to the Second Avenue Rebuild. The north block of Second Avenue between Church Street and Union Street will be closed to through traffic and parking during construction, which has a projected schedule of 12 months.
Barricades and fencing will be installed north of Church Street as the traffic changes are implemented. Businesses and buildings along the north block of Second Avenue will remain open, as will all sidewalks to allow for pedestrian access.
Bank Street will be converted to a two-way street to accommodate parking at White Front Garage, which is to remain open. The Metropolis Surface parking lot at Second Avenue and Church Street will also remain open and accessible throughout construction. The 21c Hotel valet access will be relocated to Third Avenue, with the entry into the hotel located in Bankers Alley throughout the construction.
