Johnny Moore is regional president for the Tennessee Region at Truist Financial Corporation. He assumed this current position in April 2021. Prior to being named Truist Tennessee regional president, he was Mid-West Tennessee regional president upon the closing of the merger of equals in 2019 between BB&T Corporation and SunTrust Banks, Inc.
In this role, Moore is the company’s senior leader in the market responsible for delivering the full complement of the company’s services to clients in the area and directing the commercial business. The Tennessee Region has assets in excess of $4 billion.
Moore served as market president of SunTrust Bank, Memphis region. Moore has more than 27 years of banking experience with SunTrust and National Bank of Commerce (its predecessor institution), serving as executive vice president and head of the Memphis region’s commercial line of business, which included metropolitan lending, asset-based lending, and commodity divisions. During his career, Moore has held numerous management positions in the commercial compliance and mortgage banking areas. Prior to joining the bank in January 1992, he was a senior accountant at Ernst & Young and earned his CPA certification.
Active in the community, Moore currently serves on the boards of directors for Memphis Tomorrow, National Civil Rights Museum, Rhodes College, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, Memphis Shelby Crime Commission, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis, and is a member of the Tennessee Business Leadership Council and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency.
Moore is a graduate of Rhodes College and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. He also successfully completed the SunTrust Advanced Leadership Program and the Graduate Leadership Program at Emory University.
Moore was appointed to the board in May 2023. Current term ends November 2028.
