The Affordable Housing Department is responsible for the administration and normal routine maintenance of the Agency’s affordable housing properties, including scattered sites. Through these programs, MDHA owns more than 6,700 units, primarily affordable housing. The Agency also manages more than 7,000 vouchers providing stable housing to approximately 30,000 Nashvillians.

Gernert Studio Apartments is managed by MDHA and serves households earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income. In order to qualify for an elderly and disabled property, the head of household must be at least 62 years old or have a disability. In most cases, documentation of the disability is required.

Historic Preston Taylor Apartments is managed by MDHA and features subsidized and market-rate units. The subsidized units serve households earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income.
The Housing Choice Voucher program allows assisted households to use a voucher at privately-owned rental markets units in Davidson County. Bedroom size is based on household composition. Housing choice vouchers serve households earning up 50% of the area median income.
