The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act, was passed in 2020 by the United States government to assist communities that were impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The CARES Act made Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV), Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG), and Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) funds available to Metro Nashville-Davidson County to be used to prevent, prepare for and respond to COVID-19. These funds were allocated to the eligible projects and activities outlined in the amendments to the 2018-2023 Consolidated Plan and the 2019 and 2020 Action Plans.
